About the CSHM Exam The certification examination measures an individual’s mastery of the body of knowledge deemed appropriate as a result of a Job Practice Analysis conducted by ISHM. Preparation for the examination is best accomplished by mastering the body of knowledge recognized as appropriate for safety managers. Certification requires achievement of a passing grade on the CSHM examination. Candidates must meet all education and experience requirements before taking the examination. Candidates who possess a valid certification with similar education and experience requirements (such as a CSP or CIH) may be deemed to meet these education and experience criteria, and will not be required to submit transcripts. The examination is based on multiple choice and extended response questions designed to measure the applicant’s knowledge in four subject areas:
